After shining in the clash against West Indies in the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup on Monday, Pakistan versatile Nida Dar named Shahid Afridi as her favorite player. The Pakistani rider was in full flight when the West Indies were capped at 89/7 after 20 overs before their batsmen chased the target with ease to clinch an eight -wicket win in Hamilton on Monday.

“All day we watched the weather. We desperately needed this win. I was just thinking of bowling in a good area. I was happy to play that role. As a senior, we knew we were an example on the side. We worked on stressful situations,” said Nida Dar in the post -match presentation.

“Shahid Afridi was my favorite player and after that Shaheen was my favorite, so I celebrated him like them. It was an inspiration (first win in 13 years in a World Cup) for all the girls who looked up to us. A much needed victory, this victory given to all Pakistanis, “he added.

Nida Dar passed four wickets and broke the West Indies shot command, to record a win with eight wickets.

With this win, Pakistan recorded their first point on the board in the 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. The result sparked West Indies ’hopes of qualifying for the semi -finals.

This is also Pakistan’s first win in the World Cup in 13 years. For the first time since beating WI in 2009, the Asian team has won matches in the tournament to end a string of 18 defeats.
