Actor Will Smith apologized Monday to Chris Rock for hitting the comedian during the live broadcast of the magnificent Oscar ceremony in Hollywood.
“I want to apologize openly to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I was embarrassed and my actions didn’t show the man I wanted,” the Oscar -winning best actor wrote on Instagram. .
The apology was made after the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences, the body that awarded the Oscars, said it launched an official review of the shocking incident when Smith attacked the comedian over a joke about his wife’s hair.
“Violence in all its forms is toxic and destructive. My behavior at the Academy Awards last night was unacceptable and unforgivable,” Smith said in his apology.
“Jokes with my expenses are part of the job, but jokes about Jada’s health condition are too heavy for me to bear and I react emotionally.”
