The Kolkata Knight Riders are going through a tough time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) but captain Shreyas Iyer on Tuesday expressed optimism for recovery, saying the former champions will be “unstoppable as a team” once they enter their groove. KKR has lost five of eight matches, including four in trots, and now ranks eighth in the 10 -team table. “We got off to a very good start with three wins out of four games but after that things didn’t go well for us but I still believe in the team,” Iyer told the team’s official website.

“We ticked in all the boxes to go down to the field and win the match. It’s just the execution part (where we’re lacking). It’s just waiting for the time once we’re gone, we won’t be unstoppable as a team,” he said.

KKR will strive to emulate their 2021 round when they win five of their last seven matches after winning just two wins in the first seven matches to storm into the qualifying round and finish the race as runners -up. “We just found out the qualifiers are at Eden Gardens so we’re going to work 100 percent to make sure we win the match and go there and entertain the fans,” Iyer said.

“The atmosphere was impressive from the start. The results were part of the game and for sure, the way we had prepared as a team it was incredible and the crowd worked hard to make sure we won the match.

“It’s unfortunate that the decision didn’t go to our liking and as Sam (Billings) said, we’ve built the foundation very well. It’s just time to do the right thing at the right time.”
