Volodymyr Zelensky said his government was “cautiously” considering Russia’s demands for Ukraine’s neutrality, an important point of contention as negotiators of both sides prepare for a new round of negotiations aimed at ending a brutal month-long war.

The UN estimates that at least 1,100 civilians have been killed and more than 10 million have been displaced in a devastating war that has lasted far longer than Moscow leaders had expected.

A new round of talks-starting in Turkey on Monday or Tuesday, according to conflicting reports-came after the Russian military said it would begin focusing on eastern Ukraine in a move seen by some analysts as undermining Moscow’s ambitions.
