Last night’s 2022 ‘In Memoriam’ part of the BAFTA Awards had a very special moment of desi: the legendary singer Sidney Poitier, who was remembered by the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, also included the montage. Lata Mangeshkar died on February 6 at the age of 92. He was the first Indian artist to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London, according to the BAFTA tribute. “His list of credits is extensive, but the songs stand out Anamika (1973), Aasha (1980), Dil Se (1998) and Rang De Basanti (2006). In 2001, he was awarded the highest civilian honor in India, Bharat Ratna, “said In Memoriam.
Lata Mangeshkar died in February after spending many weeks in hospital. She was taken to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai in early January after being tested positive for COVID. The singer was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit or ICU, where he was treated for COVID and pneumonia. After his death, Lata Mangeshkar was cremated with state honors.
India’s Twitter was shocked by BAFTA’s introduction of Lata Mangeshkar. Author Aseem Chhabra tweeted a screenshot of the tribute montage:

Not everyone on Twitter was so excited, though. While the BAFTA recognized Lata Mangeshkar, the beloved comedian Betty White, who died on December 31 at the age of 99, was sidelined. Not surprisingly, Twitter was outraged.
#BAFTAs# BAFTA2022#BAFTA how not to mention Betty White Memoriam died on December 31, 2021, is horrible.

In a lame response, the BAFTA tweeted to an audience that Betty White, like Dilip Kumar, was appearing on network records and would be “considered”. Golden Girls star for the TV awards show.
Hi, Betty is listed in our network records at https://t.co/cN8n2nwp76. In view of his influential work on television, we will consider him for the next Television Awards.
