Los Angeles:

Hollywood’s brightest stars hit the Oscar red carpet in high style on a stunning sunny day in Los Angeles, as the film industry celebrated its year in film and A-listers brought their fashion games to the Dolby Theater. Red was the highlight of the night, sequins plentiful and the Tinseltown men once again didn’t disappoint, with some bold color choices – and dunes star Timothee Chalamet decided the shirt wasn’t so necessary.

Here are some highlights from the Oscar red carpet:

Woman in red

Ariana DeBose was the forerunner to take home the Oscar for best supporting actress for her turn as the impudent Anita in “West Side Story” – 60 years after Rita Moreno won for the same role – and she appeared to sue her in … Trousers. DeBose rocked a red camisole fitted with a Valentino fire engine and leg -wide pants for his big night, with an accessory with a robe hanging over his arm, winning instant praise on the internet for his bold appearance.

The color certainly stands out for the A-list: One of DeBose’s co-nominees, Kirsten Dunst, also rocked the red, in a strapless vintage Christian Lacroix dress with lots of subtle ruching.

Past Oscar winner Marlee Matlin, who starred in Best Picture Competition CODAwearing a crimson high -necked Monique Lhuillier long -sleeved dress.

blue ribbon

Much has been made about what Hollywood A-listers can do to show support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression-without overdoing it or preaching. The solution so far looks like a blue ribbon containing the hashtag #WithRefugees.

The campaign, backed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), garnered support from songwriter-nominated Diane Warren, last year’s Oscar winner for best supporting actress Youn Yuh-jung and “Halloween” star Jamie Lee Curtis.

Jason Momoa added a pocket square in the color of the Ukrainian flag to his all -black ensemble.

Make it sparkle

If ever there was a night in someone’s life to sparkle, it was when someone was nominated for an Oscar, and Jessica Chastain – one of the favorites for best actress for her character as a real -life television evangelist in Mata Tammy Faye – got a memo. Chastain shimmered in a Gucci ombre dress that faded from fitted champagne and a rose gold corset to a pale purple skirt, adorned on the floor in rows of slick ruffles.

Singer-actress Alana Haim, who starred Pizza Licoricewearing a shimmering silver Louis Vuitton column dress with scaly details.

And rapper Megan Thee Stallion – who will join the “Encanto” cast to perform the mega hit song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” – is sure to make her an Oscar -hot girl in a shimmery blue strapless dress with thigh -length. slits and cuts of the middle part.

Make it colorful

Best supporting actress candidate Kodi Smit-McPhee, dressed in a powder blue Bottega Veneta suit, seems to be enjoying her Oscar moments. “It’s chaos in the best way possible,” he told ABC on the red carpet. The Australian actor isn’t the only Hollywood man to embrace a pop of color on the red carpet.

Wesley Snipes dressed burgundy from head to toe – shorts, to be exact – and last year’s Oscar -winning best supporting actress Daniel Kaluuya wore a bright green jacket with a black label. Shang-Chistar Simu Liu wore a red tux.

And then there’s Chalamet, in a shimmering black Louis Vuitton jacket and pants … and, that’s it. No shirt. Just a chain.
