The Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld a ban on Russian teams from appearing in UEFA competitions as a result of the invasion of Ukraine on Tuesday.
“The contested decision remains in force and all Russian teams and clubs continue to suspend their participation in UEFA competitions,” the CAS said in a statement.
The decision means that Sparta Moscow is banned from the Europa League and the Russian women’s national team is banned from the 2022 European Championship in England this summer.

The Sports High Court said it was likely that a decision would be made “by the end of this week” by the Russian Football Union to overturn FIFA’s decision to expel Russia from the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
