The new M4 variant is the third CSL badge model for BMW following the original CSL 3.0 and E46 M3 CSL.
BMW has released a teaser string of its third production CSL model ahead of its May 20th debut. The new CSL M4 marks the final return after nearly two decades of stagnation with the last model being the E46 -generation BMW M3. Compared to the Competition M4 and M4, the new M4 CSL is expected to be more powerful, reduce weight and feature an upgraded aero package. BMW will unveil its latest CSL model at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
The teaser himself gives a little detail. The first depicts the nose of a vehicle with streaks and blurred images that are likely to highlight a fast moving car. A few details are clearly visible apart from the oversized M4 kidney grille and what looks like an overlapping vent on the bumper. The second teaser is a close -up photo of the BMW badge on the bonnet while the third depicts the glowing CSL logo. A pair of old teasers show blur after the shadow of a moving car and the headlights of the car are illuminated with the rest of the car hidden in the shadows.
Spy photos of the newly released M4 reveal that the car will feature a revised aero package. These include new bumpers, side skirts and model -specific duck tail spoilers. Through other details on the web, the M4 CSL is expected to be lighter than the standard M4 although it is still unknown how BMW will achieve it.
Mechanically, the CSL is expected to get some improvements over the standard M4 and M4 Competitions to show a more performance -focused character. Reports suggest that the M4’s inline six-cylinder twin-turbo petrol unit will receive a power boost in the CSL with the model set to be at the top of the M4 lineup.
BMW is also reportedly ready to revive the M3 CS in the current generation model with the car having been seen tested on global roads.
