Shehbaz Sharif, who is likely to replace Prime Minister Imran Khan, on Friday, denounced it for endangering Pakistan’s global interests.

Opposition Leader in the State Assembly and President of the Muslim League of Pakistan (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif on Friday in a tweet said that he was “shocked by the way Imran Khan has endangered the country’s global interests.”

He also said that “Among other things, the damage done to our foreign policy is incalculable.”

In a speech to the nation on Thursday, Imran Khan made allegations about Washington’s role in allegations of a “foreign conspiracy” to overthrow it from power.

Mr Khan has also slammed the US for “not reciprocating” Pakistan’s contribution to the “war on terror” in Afghanistan.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday said Imran Khan “has now lost his majority” in the Senate and Opposition Leader Shahbaz Sharif will be the country’s prime minister soon.

The PPP chairman said Shehbaz Sharif had challenged the Pakistani Prime Minister to resign. “He (Imran Khan) has no choice yet. He can resign or be fired for disbelief,” Bilawal Bhutto said.

Earlier on Tuesday, the ruling PTI got another shock when the MQM-P, an ally of the government, decided to side with the opposition and support them in a no-confidence motion against Imran Khan.

The MQM-P has seven seats in the Senate and after its decision to split with the government, the opposition got the support of 177 MNAs, five more than the 172 needed to gain a majority.

Relations between the U.S. and Pakistan have been increasingly strained since the U.S. withdrew from Afghanistan last summer.

The growing alignment between China and Pakistan also casts a shadow over US policy towards Pakistan.

Mr Khan also said that many Pakistanis lost their lives in the fight against terrorism, but the US has never thanked them. “In fact, the US blames them for its failure in Afghanistan,” Mr Khan said.

Meanwhile, Murtaza Ali Shah, a journalist for GEO News and The News International mocked Imran Khan’s speech to the country.

He said that Mr Khan’s speech was about “I, I, Myself”, adding that Mr Khan mentioned himself 213 times in a 45 -minute speech.

“Imran Khan spoke about‘ I, I, Myself, Imran Khan ’213 times in a 45 -minute speech: this is all about me,” Mr Shah tweeted.

Imran once talked about him entering the world of politics in the 1990s following a successful cricket career.

“I ventured into politics because I came to the conclusion that Pakistan cannot be the country that Allama Iqbal dreamed of and Quaid-e-Azam fought even in poor health,” he said.
