Sarfaraz Ahmed and Imad Wasim have been dropped from the White-Ball Squad of Pakistan against Australia

Pakistani selectors have named Asif Afridi the capless spinner and wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris for the three ODIs and in the T20I single-ball white teams against Australia. Notable exclusions include former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and full-back Imad Wasim, and selectors have also called up all of Muhammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan, who were out with fitness issues and also missed Pakistan’s Super League matches.

Haris, a former Pakistani under-19 player, has been replaced by Sarfaraz after some spectacular PSL batting.

He was also named to the Pakistani national team against the New Zealand home team last September, but was unable to play in the series at the time as the Kiwis returned home on the opening day of the series.

The spinning left arm Asif also played terribly against Multan Sultans who lost in the final against Lahore Qalandars.

Head coach Muhammad Wasim said the selection of both teams was based on a strategy to provide opportunities for high-performance players as part of a strategy to increase the number of top-level cricketers and develop tremendous banking strength.

While the selectors have received 20 players for the ODCs that are playing within the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League; 17 players have been selected for a single T20I, excluding Abdullah Shafique, Imam-Ul-Haq and Saud Shakeel.
