Record For Indian Coal, 2021-22 Production Is Likely To Exceed 620 Million Tons

Major Mining Coal India Ltd is poised to record its highest production during fiscal 2021-22, surpassing the 620 million tonnes mark and overcoming a two-year consecutive decline in annual production, a company official said.
Miners ’production for the current fiscal stood at 614.4 million metric tons as of March 28.
“We have surpassed previous production highs … and may close this year at around 622 million tonnes,” the official told PTI.
Coal shipments are expected to exceed 660 million tonnes for 2021-22.
The Center has set an ambitious target of 670 million tonnes of production for the current fiscal. The miner previously said it was targeting 640 million tonnes for 2021-22.
In 2019-20, the company has produced 602 million tons of coal, and in 2020-21, its production totaled 596 million tons.
