Rajasthan Royals will celebrate the extraordinary life of legendary Australian actor Shane Warne, who passed away recently, during the Indian Premier League match against India Mumbai in Navi Mumbai on Saturday. Warne had lifted his inaugural IPL trophy after the Royals beat the Chennai Super Kings by three wickets in the final in 2008, and his former franchisee said it would pay tribute to its first captain to coincide with the team’s success exactly 14 years ago.
The franchise said Warne’s brother Jason will also be a part of the festival as he has received an invitation from the Jaipur -based party.
Considered one of the greatest cricketers of all time, Warne died of a suspected heart attack at the Thai resort of Koh Samui last month. She is 52 years old. He took 708 wickets from 145 Tests, in addition to 293 ODI wickets from 194 games between 1992 and 2007. “It is only fitting that the same stadium where Warne lifted the IPL trophy will see the cricket world unite to honor and celebrate his life,” the franchise said in a statement.
“The franchise would like to emphasize that it is not an opportunity to mourn, but to commemorate that great man, and salute him for his endless contributions to the game of cricket as well as impacting thousands of lives around the world through him. Words, energy, and action on and off the field. ” It said the celebration would be led by the franchise and supported by BCCI.
The Rajasthan Royals game squad will use the special initial letter ‘SW23’ on the leading collar of their official game kit to pay homage to the Australian legend.
The special area at DY Patil Stadium has also been turned into the Shane Warne Tribute Gallery, which can be visited and experienced by all ticket holder fans.
“The Royals have also contacted the 2008 Group and appreciate everyone who has sent their tribute to the greatest leg spinner of all time. This tribute will be available on match day on Rajasthan Royals social media…”
