Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar has been nominated as the Mumbai Cricket Association representative for the future BCCI forum in the state unit AGM which was incidentally not attended by president Vijay Patil or secretary Sanjay Naik, raising questions about the legitimacy of the meeting. Naik actually told PTI that “there is no AGM today and it has been postponed. We are not aware of any such meeting.” However, 109 authorized signatories attended a meeting called by the opposition faction led by the Ravi Sawant-Ravi Mandrekar group which actually overturned all decisions taken by the ruling dispensation.

It remains unclear whether Saturday’s meeting referred to by rival factions as an “AGM” will be recognized or not as only treasurer Jagdish Achrekar of the ruling group was present but did not sign the minutes.

The 85th MCA AGM also saw various important decisions taken, including the dissolution of the very important Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC) comprising three former Indian players in Vinod Kambli, Jatin Paranjape and Nilesh Kulkarni as they were unhappy with their performance. in a white ball tournament.

Surprisingly, the senior selection committee headed by Salil Ankola has been retained despite having selected the team for the white ball tournament.

The “general body” also appointed a new Ombudsman – Retd. Judge Bhosle of the Allahabad High Court.

The minutes of the 84th AGM have not been received while the auditors for the following financial year have been changed.

In fact, the “supreme body” does not adopt any reports, including the reports of the secretary and treasurer. The Secretary’s report was actually referred back to the Apex Council for re -drafting.

The new MCA GC chairman is Milind Narvekar while Nilesh Bhosle is now a member of the governing council.

It is to see whether the ruling faction, led by Patil and Naik, acknowledges the decision taken as they are the ones representing the state at the BCCI forum.
