Police in Los Angeles made a visit to the home of actor Will Smith on Tuesday after receiving a call about a drone sighting on the property. It was unclear who reported the drone, but a police spokesman said that police were unable to locate the drone.
The spokesman told New York Post that a police vehicle visited Smith’s Calabasas mansion after receiving a call. “But they were unable to locate the drone because by the time officers arrived at the scene it had already left the area,” the spokesman added.
It is unclear who contacted the authorities. “It could be the Smith family or their neighbors. We just sent the unit there to try to track down the drone and see if there were paparazzi or what was going on, ”the spokesman said.
The emergency action came days after the actor shocked the world by slapping comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars. Rock, who hosted the event, had made a bland joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith.
The comedian refused to lodge a police report, but the Academy has launched a review of the incident. Will Smith won the Best Actor award minutes after slapping Rock, but later apologized to the comedian, saying his behavior was “unacceptable”.
Calls were made to strip Smith of the Oscar award.
Pinkett-Smith broke the silence about the incident on Tuesday in an Instagram post. “This is the season for healing and I am here for it,” he wrote in the note.
Rock’s joke is about Pinkett-Smith’s tight-fitting hair, which infuriates Smith. She suffers from alopecia areata, a condition that causes her to lose hair. The actor has told about his condition in 2018.
