Australian Test captain Pat Cummins has had a bout on the pitch with modern -day greats Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Babar Azam and Kane Williamson. When asked about the similarities in the way these prolific right -handed players build their innings in the game’s longest format to achieve the amount of success they’ve all managed consistently, Cummins said they all “know their game” very well. “Everyone knows their game very well. They’re never upset, happy to play for a long time,” Cummins said while answering NDTV’s questions in a select media interaction hosted by Sony Sports Network.
Cummins, who currently leads Australia in the third and final Test series against Pakistan in Lahore, talked about how the likes of Kohli and Babar Azam score quickly when there is little chance.
“If there’s a chance, they get off target quickly, start collecting runs very quickly. Unless you’re really getting money from the first ball, you feel like they’re already entering their innings,” Cummins said.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam scored a record -breaking 196 in the fourth round of the previous Test in Karachi to help Pakistan come out with a thrilling draw. Babar scored 196 and hit more than 400 balls as the hosts battled to get 171 overs against Australia to save the Test match.
After the Pakistan tour, Cummins will travel to India to join the Kolkata Knight Riders squad for the IPL 2022, which starts on March 26. Cummins was repurchased by KKR for Rs 7.25 crore in a mega auction last month. The versatile right arm stitch player was part of the KKR division even in the last IPL as well.
“Really excited. It’s great because most of the squad can stay together. So most of the players and staff know right,” Cummins said when asked about the IPL.
