Pakistan v Australia: Steve Smith Passes Kumar Sangakkara, Sachin Tendulkar For Script Test Record

Australian striker Steve Smith has been in good form for the team in the ongoing Pakistan tour. After playing 78 and 72 beats in the first and second Tests in Rawalpindi and Karachi, respectively, Smith recorded another 50+ points in the first half of the third and final Tests which are taking place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Despite failing to reach a triple figure so far in the series, Smith set a big record with 59 beats in the first half. Smith, who recorded his total runs to 7,993, overtook former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara, who had scored 7,913 runs after 150 Test innings.

Indian trio Sachin Tendulkar (7,869), Virender Sehwag (7,694) and Rahul Dravid (7,680) are next on the list.

In the ongoing third Test, Australia were reduced to 17 for two after choosing to hit first.

Smith led Australia’s rise, alongside Pakistani -born batsman Usman Khawaja, as the pair added 138 runs for the third wicket.

Both Smith and Khawaja missed out on their respective centuries as they were sidelined with scores of 59 and 91, respectively.

After their dismissal, Pakistan appeared to have taken control of the proceedings before Alex Carey and Cameron Green added 135 more to take Australia past the 300 -run mark.

Green got a 79 fine while Carey was fired after an excellent 69.


Australia eventually lost a total of 391.

In return, Australian captain Pat Cummins attacked Pakistan early, eliminating Imam-ul-Haq by a score of 11.
