Opposition Shouts Slogans, Quit Lok Sabha Over Rising Oil Prices

New Delhi:

Opposition parties staged a protest in the Lok Sabha today against rising fuel and cooking gas prices and launched an exit movement demanding reinstatement.

Raising the issue after Question Time, Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said opposition parties claimed diesel and petrol prices would increase after the election process.

Members of Congress, Trinamool, NCP, DMK and the Left party raised slogans from their seats against the fuel price hike and demanded a recall.

Opposition parties had tried to raise the issue as soon as the Lok Sabha met for Question Time, but were not allowed to by Speaker Om Birla.

Speaker Om Birla has told the opposition party to raise the issue after Question Time.

Petrol and diesel prices on Tuesday were raised by 80 paise per liter while domestic cooking gas prices were raised by Rs 50 per cylinder, ending a four -and -a -half -month election -related delay in the rate review.
