The state -owned NMDC (National Mineral Development Corporation) on Saturday announced that it has hit a record iron ore production of 40 million tonnes (MT) in this fiscal so far.
In the previous fiscal, the company had produced 35 MT of iron ore.
“NMDC made history by being the first company in the country to cross 40 million tonnes (MT) of iron ore production in a year (financially),” the Steel Ministry said in a statement.
By the end of the current financial year, production will reach 42 MT, a company official informed.
NMDC has set a target to become a 100 MTPA company by 2030, the ministry statement said.
“I congratulate the NMDC team on this historic achievement. I am confident we will continue to surpass many more achievements in our journey to fulfill the country’s vision of ‘AtmanirbharBharat’. This achievement also shows that we are on track to become 100 MTPA companies by 2030 , ”NMDC CMD Sumit Deb said in the statement.
Hyderabad -based NMDC, under the Ministry of Steel, is the largest iron ore mining company in the country.
