MS Dhoni turned the clock at Wankhede Stadium when he hit 7 boundaries and six on his way to the half -century with just 38 passes in the IPL 2022 opening match between CSK and KKR. This is the 24th time Dhoni has scored fifty goals in the IPL. The former CSK captain came to bat with the struggling team at 61/5 in 10.5 overs.
Dhoni and captain Ravindra Jadeja played carefully to ensure no more damage was done to CSK by KKR bowlers. Just as CSK will be winding down the par total, Dhoni is starting to move away from the boundary.
Some of his shots remind Indian cricket fans of the vintage MS Dhoni, a formidable batsman who can withstand any bowling attack.
He chased down young Shivam Mavi in the 19th inning and then finished half his century in the final round of the inning, which was defeated by Andre Russell.
Ravindra Jadeja put the icing on the cake with six of the last deliveries when CSK saved some pride by putting 131/5 on the board to give his bowlers something to throw.

Earlier, Umesh Yadav made a good start to his second stint in KKR colors when he sent back CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway in a power play. Spin twins, Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine tied CSK even further.
But Dhoni showed his class in a death fight in his first game as a player for CSK.
