MPs will showcase their talents at a farewell dinner tomorrow for 72 retired members of the Rajya Sabha, sources said.
In addition to the traditional farewell speech at the house, Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu has organized a farewell dinner at his house, besides a cultural event in which MPs will take part.
MPs will retire in the next few weeks, until July.
Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are among those who will speak in the hall. There will be no Zero Time and Question Time in the Rajya Sabha.
At the dinner, about half a dozen Rajya Sabha members will showcase their cultural talents, sources said.
Santanu Sen will play guitar; Dola Sen will perform Rabindra Sangeet; Tiruchi Siva will sing Tamil Songs; Rupa Ganguly and Vandana Chavan will sing Hindi Songs and Ramachandra Jhangra will sing patriotic songs. After the solo, there will be a chorus song as well.
According to a senior official of the Rajya Sabha secretariat, the councilors showed their cultural talents at events like this after 20 years.
