Marathi Actor Ketaki Chitale, Arrested For Posting In Sharad Pawar, Gets Out Of Prison -By ASC

The 29 -year -old actor is now facing more than 20 FIRs over the Facebook post


Marathi actor Ketaki Chitale, who was arrested last month for allegedly sharing an unpleasant post about Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar was released from Thane jail yesterday after he was granted bail by the district court.

District judge HM Patwardhan allowed him bail on Rs 20,000 bail.

Ms Chitale was arrested on May 14 after allegedly sharing a Marathi sentence referring to Mr Pawar in an insulting manner.

Answering media questions after his release from prison, Ms Chitale said she would speak at an “appropriate time”. He answered most of the questions with “Jai Hind, Jai Maharashtra”.

Visuals show him smiling and also show signs of victory as he leaves prison.

He was charged under sections relating to public harm, defamation and promoting hostility between different groups.

Complainant Swapnil Netke has claimed that the post may have led to problems between political parties.

Last week, the court granted bail to Ms Chitale in another case registered against her under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Quarter (Prevention of Cruelty) Act in neighboring Navi Mumbai in 2020.
