A 30-year-old man has been charged after he was injured in a fight during a party at a bar at a shopping mall here over the payment of bills, police officials said on Tuesday.

The break bar was closed and 16 of its employees were detained following the incident that occurred on Monday night, the official said.

The deceased has been identified as Brijesh Rai, who hails from Chhapra in Bihar and works for a private firm in Noida, according to police.

Around the clock At 11pm, an argument broke out between them and the bar staff regarding the payment of bills, “said Mr Singh.

“The altercation quickly turned into a fight in which Brajesh suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died,” the police official said.

Sixteen bar workers have been arrested and after examining CCTV footage, eight people have been identified, he said.

“The break bar has been sealed to prevent any interference with the evidence. CCTV footage is being carefully analyzed and further action will be taken accordingly,” he said.

Mr Rai leaves behind his wife Pooja and two children aged five and three.

Meanwhile, rest bar representatives called the episode a “very unfortunate incident” and claimed those involved in the fight were not their employees.

“The incident took place outside the club and involved several unidentified offenders who were not part of the club’s security as the club did not have any working bouncers at all,” the bar official said.

“As the owners of the club, we are fully cooperating with the police and have provided DVRs, CCTV footage and the club has been sealed,” the official added.
