MacBook Air With M2 Said To Be Delayed To Second Half Of 2022, No New MacBook Pro Possible Until 2023

Apple has reportedly postponed the launch of the redesigned MacBook Air with the M2 chip until the end of the year. The company also may not launch new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models until 2023, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, who stated in his Power On newsletter that he doesn’t expect Apple to update its luxury 14- and 16-. inch MacBook Pro model this year. There are also more than two new Mac devices launched around the middle of this year.

Gurman said that there will be at least two or three new Mac devices launched around the middle of this year-with the M2 versions of the MacBook Air, Mac mini, 13-inch MacBook Pro and 24-inch iMac set to be released later this year.

An iMac with Apple’s “Pro” chip is said to be under development but neither that nor the next MacBook Pro will reach the market in the near future, as noted by Gurman. There’s also the possibility that Apple is delaying the new MacBook Pro until the M2 Ultra and dual M2 Ultra – an upgrade to the M2 chip – are ready.

Gurman has also hinted that Apple has worked on a MacBook Pro that features twice the performance of the M1 Ultra, with 40 CPU cores and 128 graphics cores. The MacBook Pro will be the last new Mac to switch to Apple Silicon.

So Apple seems to be gearing up to launch a series of new MacBook models with the M2 chip by the end of 2022. This may follow the same path Apple took when it introduced the M1 MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro and start-up. March mini in November 2020, suggested that the company’s M-series chips have an upgrade cycle of about two years.
