Lakshya Sen has entered the semi-finals of England after his Chinese opponent gave him a walkover

The bronze medalist at the Lakshya Sen World Championships advanced to the men’s singles finals of the All England Championships in England after his opponent Lu Guang Zu of China defeated Birmingham on Friday. The 20-year-old from Almora, who won his first Super 500 title at the Indian Open in January and was runner-up at the German Open last week, will face off as the winner of the sixth-ranked Malaysian qualifier Lee Zii. Jia and Japan second-placed Kento Momota in the final quarters.

The fifth-ranked Indian pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, however, did not overcome the quarter-final hurdle in the 22-24 and 17-21 minutes 47 minutes against Indonesia’s first team Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.

Sen was impressed with Anders Antonsen’s 3rd world title at the 21-16 and 21-18 World Championships on Thursday and twice won a medal to reach the quarter-finals.


The Indian defeated world number 1 Denmark and Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen last week in the Super 300 final.
