Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Ajinkya Rahane on Tuesday was sidelined from the remaining Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, due to a hamstring injury, the franchise announced on Twitter. Rahane was injured during the KKR match against SunRisers Hyderabad on Saturday at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

“Official announcement: Ajinkya Rahane will miss the rest of the match #IPL2022 as a result of a hamstring injury. Hope you get well soon, The Knights camp will miss you, “tweeted KKR.

In the game against the SunRisers, Rahane suffered an injury while hitting and later, he didn’t go down on the field either. Against the SunRisers, the right -hander, scored 28 runs from 24 balls with the help of three sixes.

Rahane played seven games for KKR this season, recording 133 runs at an average of 19. His highest score this season is 44.


KKR had taken Rahane for Rs 1 crore in a mega auction held in Bengaluru in February.

KKR is currently ranked sixth in the points table with 12 points from 13 matches. The next team will be against the Lucknow Super Giants.
