The Kerala government on Sunday said it would take steps to investigate the death of a 32 -year -old man who allegedly jumped from a police jeep while in their care.
State Minister V Sivankutty said the investigation would be thorough.
On March 16, police said they took the man and his wife to the police station after they received a complaint that he was making a fuss at his home. The issue was resolved at the station and the couple returned home, police said.
Late that night, police said they received information that he was injured after getting drunk.
“Again, we went, took him to the hospital and treated his wounds and took him back to his house. But his wife and brother didn’t let him in. We couldn’t leave him unattended because he was injured, and we took him back to the hall. Then while taking him to the hospital for routine health check -ups, he jumped from the jeep and seriously injured himself, “a senior police official told PTI.
He was admitted to the hospital where he died of his injuries today, police said.
