Former Indian pacer and Delhi Capital assistant coach Ajit Agarkar believes there are no clear favorites in the T20 format and even more so because anyone in the Indian Premier League (IPL) can be a winner. Putting the first victory of the Rajasthan Royals in the initial edition of the IPL, Agarkar commented on the glorious uncertainties of cricket as a case study.
“There are no strong or weak teams in the T20 cricket, I wish it were true and you can choose one or two teams, but it’s not like that. We have enough evidence during IPL editions that teams are not easier to win.” Agarkar said this in Star Sports’ IPL gameplan session.
“If you see Rajasthan Royals in the first edition of the IPL, everyone was laughing at the team they chose at the auction, but they went on to win the trophy,” he added.
On 23 February, the Delhi Capitals IPL franchise announced the appointment of Ajit Agarkar as the new assistant coach of the team.
Agarkar Ricky Ponting (Head Coach), Pravin Amre (Assistant Coach) and James Hopes (Bowling Coach) joined the Delhi Capitals coaching staff.
The 44-year-old has 288 ODIs and 58 Test wickets on his behalf, representing the Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils in the IPL.
