With AB de Villiers no longer part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Virat Kohli shared a wonderful moment with Faf du Plessis during the ongoing Match 6 of the IPL 2022 season, at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. With the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at 83 for six in 11.3 overs after a top-tier fall, the two exchanged healthy hugs that left fans emotional on social media. Such was the hug that many fans compared du Plessis to de Villiers, who shared a close bond with Kohli during his IPL career. Here is a video of Kohli and Du Plessis exchanging hugs:

The hug actually needs no explanation given the dominant performance by RCB bowlers on Wednesday. The franchise beat KKR for 128 in 18.5 overs with Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka taking four wickets in four overs and giving up 20 runs.
Meanwhile, Akash Deep took three wickets, Harshal Patel bagged two and Mohammed Siraj also claimed a scalp.
With the exception of Andre Russell, the other KKR batsmen failed to pass the 20 -run mark. The West Indies versatile player could only collect 25 runs out of 18 balls and also did four and three six balls.
RCB lost an early wicket in the chase, but a steady performance from their midfield saw them chase the target in the final with three wickets remaining.
Du Plessis was released by CSK after IPL 2021 and joined RCB at a price of Rs 7 crore during this year’s mega auction, at a base price of Rs 2 crore.
Due to Kohli stepping down as RCB captain after last season, the veteran cricketer was appointed franchise captain for the campaign.
