Featuring for the first time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since 2016, Rishi Dhawan caught the attention of fans and experts in Match 38 as the Punjab Kings (PBKS) face the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday. Coming to the bowl, the versatile player was seen wearing a protective face mask that got a lot of reaction from Twitter as fans started trying to figure out why. The reason Dhawan wore face protection was because of an injury he suffered in the Ranji Cup before IPL 2022 started. The 32 -year -old was beaten during the second -round match and was also taken to hospital for a scan. After undergoing surgery after being hit, Dhawan is understood to have worn the mask while playing bowling. For this reason, he also missed the first four games for Punjab and was also seen in the net with his mask on.
Recently speaking through PBKS social media operator, he said, “I made an IPL comeback after 4 years so it was a bit sad when I was injured in the Ranji Cup. I had to undergo surgery which resulted in me not being able to play in the first round. Four matches, but I’m fine and ready to be elected now. I’ve been training hard and hope to get back strong. “
