Dwayne Bravo on Thursday overtook former Sri Lankan bowler Lasith Malinga as the leading goal scorer in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. Bravo achieved that success during the ongoing IPL 2022 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Bravo, who is on par with Malinga with 170 wickets each, pushed Deepak Hooda to register his 171st scalp in the IPL. Earlier, the veteran all -rounder had equaled Malinga’s record, having grabbed three wickets at the season opener against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Although Malinga achieved success in just 122 IPL matches, Bravo has done the same in 30 more matches than the Sri Lankan players.
Malinga, who is currently the Rajasthan Royals speed bowling coach, averages 19.79 while Bravo has an average of 24 in IPL cricket.
Malinga, who played for MI between 2008-19, won four IPL titles with the five-time champion.
In the ongoing match, CSK recorded 210 for seven in 20 overs, setting a target of 211 runs.
Robin Uthappa was in great form as an opener and broke 50 runs from 27 balls, hammering eight crawls and a maximum. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni played an unbeaten knockout of 16 runs from six balls, also breaking two fours and a maximum.
Meanwhile, Shivam Dube missed fifty shots, sent off after making 49 runs.
