IPL 2022: “Baapu Time Is Right,” Irfan Pathan Told Ravindra Jadeja When Named CSK Captain

Twitter suffered a devastation on Thursday when MS Dhoni handed over the post of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja, ahead of the upcoming 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Former cricketer Irfan Pathan joined the bandwagon in congratulating the versatile players of Team India and also wished him well for his new responsibilities. Via Twitter, the former cricketer wrote, “Baapu’s time is right for you. Carry out your new responsibilities @imjadeja well”.

The announcement was made just days before the start of IPL 2022, which is scheduled to start on March 26. CSK will face KKR at the opening of the season at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and it will also mark Jadeja’s first match as CSK captain.

Dhoni, who was bought by the franchise in its debut season in 2008, has led CSK to win four IPL titles in 12 seasons as captain. The franchise’s latest title was at IPL 2021, when they defeated KKR in the final.

In addition, Jadeja is one of the four players retained by CSK after IPL 2021. The other three cricketers are Dhoni, Moeen Ali and Ruturaj Gaikwad.


In total, Jadeja has played in 200 IPL matches and has recorded 2386 runs with a high score of 62*. In the bowling department, he has taken 127 wickets including three four -wicket shots and five wickets.

Last season during CSK’s winning campaign, Jadeja made 227 runs in 16 games and also took 13 wickets.
