The upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season, scheduled to start from March 26 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, will see several players make their debut appearances in the tournament. The cash-rich league provides a platform for players to shine and over the years has witnessed many success stories of debut players. In addition to international stars like Dewald Brevis and Odean Smith, there will be other cricketers from India’s B-19 Cricket World Cup winning team hoping to achieve their success.
Here is a list of three debut players who could steal the spotlight in IPL 2022:
1. Raj Bawa: Having received the Man of the Match award for his five-wicket shot in the B-19 World Cup final, Bawa was in great form during the tournament. Bought by the Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Rs 2 crore, he recorded 252 runs during the B-19 World Cup and also hammered a century. Also a moderate rider, he bagged nine wickets in six games.
2. Odean Smith: Bought by PBKS for Rs 6 crore, Smith caught everyone’s attention for his performance in the India vs West Indies limited overs match recently. A bowler who can make things happen, a West Indies cricketer is also a low -level batsman, with good power hitting skills.
3. Dewald Brevis:After showcasing his fine hitting skills at this year’s B-19 World Cup, Brevis managed to split for two centuries and three and a half centuries for South Africa, finishing the race as the tournament’s top scorer. Dubbed ‘Baby AB’ because of his resemblance in shot style to legend AB de Villiers, he was bought by Mumbai Indians (MI) for Rs 3 crore in a mega auction.
