Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden believes the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are capable of winning the 2022 IPL and retaining the championship, despite a change in leadership. However, the Chennai Super Kings succumbed to a six-wicket defeat against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening match of the season, where both their batsmen and bowlers failed to play at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai last Saturday. Next, the Chennai Super Kings will clash on Thursday with newcomers Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who kicked off the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign with a five -wicket defeat against the Gujarat Titans (GT) last Monday at Brabourne Stadium.
The Australian batsman legend and former CSK cricketer said during an episode of ‘Cricket Live’ on Star Sports: “CSK will not be disappointed with the defeat in the opening match against KKR. There are many positive things for Ravindra Jadeja’s team. The top tier saw a rare shot there was a collapse in the first game but there was a lot of experience on the side and I’m sure they’ll come back stronger in the next game. “
“They missed Moeen Ali at the opening of the tournament and he will be available for selection in the next match. CSK is in them to do that and that makes them a dangerous team,” he added.
