Mumbai police are preparing to ensure full security for the Indian Premier League (IPL) which starts this weekend, according to an official statement here on Thursday. There is no intelligence information on any threat of violence against the cricket extravaganza which will start at the Wankhede stadium in South Mumbai from March 26, he added.
Adequate security arrangements will be made at two stadiums in the city (Wankhede and Brabourne) where matches will be played as well as hotels where players and support staff will stay, police said.
Several unconfirmed infectious messages on social media said that `terrorists’ had conducted recce at the Trident Hotel, Wankhede Stadium and along the bus route between the two locations, but a police statement said they had not received any such information.
