Punjab Kings (PBKS) led by Mayank Agarwal beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 11 runs to earn two crucial points at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday. The win puts PBKS in sixth position in the IPL 2022 points table with four wins from eight matches. The match was marked by some amazing performances with batsmen as well as balls from both sides. Shikhar Dhawan, playing his 200th IPL match, scored 88 runs while Ambati Rayudu wowed the audience with an equally energetic beat of 78 runs. In the bowling department, Dwayne Bravo, Kagiso Rabada and Rishi Dhawan each took two wickets for their franchise.
However, one name that was under the radar was Arshdeep Singh, who returned with a 1/23 figure in four overs. The left-handed rider got Mitchell Santner’s crucial wicket at first and then gave nothing to the CSK batsman with an economical fast bowling display.
Looking at the stingy economy that Arshdeep once experienced at IPL 2022, Rabada praised the bowler as the “best deadly bowler” of the season so far.
Speaking after PBKS ‘win over CSK, Rabada said: “I think Arsh has been the best deadly bowler in this comp. That’s what the statistics say.”
Although, Arshdeep doesn’t often appear in the wicket column in the 2022 IPL – three wickets in 8 games – the pacers have been impressed with maintaining the cap on the scoring rate in over death.
He has an economic rate of just 5.66 in deaths in the 2022 IPL and has been one of the men of choice for Mayank Agarwal this season.
