The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 started off brilliantly with 10 teams facing off, vying for the title this time around. With the competition intensifying, old records are being surpassed while new achievements are being achieved every day. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all -rounder Dwayne Bravo, who continues to be a key member of the team, was on top to break the big IPL bowling record now shared with Lasith Malinga. At the start of IPL 2022, Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka held the record of having the most wickets taken in IPL history, with 170 wickets. However, Bravo reminded everyone that he was not far off and equaled the record with a brilliant shot of three wickets in CSK’s first match of the season against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Bravo matched Malinga in the opening match against KKR on March 26 this season. However, there wasn’t much to celebrate for Bravo as CSK ended up on the losing side even though he ended up with a 3/20 figure in 4 overs.
Currently, both Malinga and Bravo are tied at 170 wickets. Although Malinga achieved success in just 122 IPL matches, Bravo has done the same in 30 more matches than the Sri Lankan players.
Malinga averages 19.79 while Bravo has an average of 24 in IPL cricket.
With Bravo competing with Malinga on the wicket -takers list, the West Indian is also one of the most consistent players with the batsman as well.
In 152 games, Bravo has scored 1537 runs at an average of 22.94 spanning the fifties.
