New Delhi:

India has started vaccinating children between the ages of 12 and 14 from today, while COVID-19 vaccine coverage is expanding.

From now on, the comorbid condition for receiving a preventive dose for people over 60 has also been removed, and now everyone over 60 can take boosters.

The COVID-19 vaccine for 12-14 year olds would be Corbevax, manufactured by Biological Evans, Hyderabad.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan had previously stated that the Corbevax vaccine would only be used for beneficiaries aged 12 to 14 years.

Corbevax has become the third vaccine against COVID-19 in India and the free vaccine will be available in all available centers.

on Tuesday, the Center released guidelines for administering COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 12-14. Two doses of Biological E Corbevax intramuscular vaccine would be given within 28 days, according to the instructions.

Beneficiaries of 14-15 year olds have already been covered by the 15-18 year old vaccine, the Center said on Tuesday.

According to the guidelines, as of March 1, 2021, there are 4.7 million children between the ages of 12 and 13 in the country.

According to the guidelines, all beneficiaries born in 2010 or earlier – those who have already reached the age of 12 – will be able to register with CoWIN.

For people over the age of 60, the guidelines say that a precautionary dose can be given after nine months, 39 weeks from the date the second dose is given. The instructions also stated that the preventive dose vaccine should be given with the same vaccine as the primary vaccine.

Registration can be done in the following ways: self-registration through a family member’s Co-WIN account or by creating a new mobile account number (this facility is currently available to all eligible citizens), instructions . he stated.

Vaccines can also be made through local registration in a simplified manner and appointments can be booked online or on site for 12-14 years.

The guidelines also stated that all citizens have the right to receive the free COVID-19 vaccine regardless of their income at any government Covid center.
