Image of Kebab Seller From Kashmir Wins International Food Photo Contest -By ASC

Indian photographer Debdatta Chakraborty was named the winner of Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2022 for a street vendor image in Srinagar, Kashmir. In an image titled Kebabiyana, the vendor is seen working in a smoke -filled food store. He was enveloped in smoke as he tended to what looked like meat kebabs.

The photo was taken at Khayyam Chowk in Srinagar, an alley that looks like another street during the day. However, in the evening, it turns into an activity hub when vendors light various charcoal ovens, and the aroma as well as the smoke of wazwan kebabs from the grill transform this street into a foodie’s paradise.

Caroline Kenyon, founder and director of Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year, said the winning photo had “beautifully captured the puffs of smoke, the golden glow, the subject’s expression as she prepared the food to share”.

“Sparks fly from skewers, whose roasting we can almost smell, we imagine a warm and delicious aroma. This image, soft but powerful, nourishes our souls, ”added Ms Kenyon.

Monica Galetti, restaurant owner, Masterchef judge, and internationally renowned chef, declared the winner in a ceremony posted live on YouTube.

Thousands of people from all over the world participated in this year’s competition, and overall winners were selected for each category.

The Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year competition was established in 2011. The awards honor the best food photography and video from around the world. There is something for everyone and the various categories encompass the various ways food is described. From magazine -style food to pictures of families eating together during religious holidays, from portrayals of the realities of food production to food that grows in its natural habitat, there is something for everyone.

Since 2011, more than 80,000 photos and videos from 96 countries have been donated.
