House of the Dragon Screening Date: Game of Thrones Spin-Off Premiere August 22 in India

House of the Dragon premiered in less than five months. With teaser posters featuring dragon eggs-along with new appearances on most of the main cast-HBO has announced that the first Game of Thrones spin-off will arrive on Sunday, Aug. 21 on HBO and HBO Max wherever available. Assuming that HBO’s deal with Disney’s Indian Star is still in place, you can expect House of the Dragon to be released on Monday, August 22 at Disney+ Hotstar in India. Like all HBO shows, the Game of Thrones spin-off will have a weekly release. With the first season of 10 episodes, House of the Dragon is supposed to run until Sunday, October 23 / Monday, October 24th.

Interestingly, this puts the Game of Thrones prequel spin-off less than two weeks ahead of other big-budget epic fantasy prequel spin-offs. I’m talking about The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of the Power-due to begin its first eight-episode season on Friday, Sept. 2 on Amazon Prime Video-a series that almost came into existence because of the massive craze surrounding Game of Thrones. This means that throughout September and a few weeks in October, viewers will be treated to a new Lord of the Rings episode every Friday and a new House of the Dragon episode every Sunday / Monday.

In addition to the House of the Dragon release date, HBO has released nine new images from the upcoming Game of Thrones spin-off, featuring Paddy Considine as the fifth ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, King Viserys Targaryen, Matt Smith as the presumed heir of Prince Daemon Targaryen, Emma D ‘Arcy as Viserys eldest daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Lady Alicent Hightower who was part of the royal circle, Rhys Ifans as Alicent’s father and Hand of the King Ser Otto Hightower, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys famous sailor “Sea Snake” Velaryon, Eve Best as Corlys wife Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, Milly Alcock and Emily Carey as Rhaenyra and young Alicent, Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole’s skilled swordsman, and Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria’s most trusted dancer and Daemon ally.

House of the Dragon begins Aug. 21 on HBO and HBO Max, and Aug. 22 on Disney+ Hotstar. All eight seasons of Game of Thrones are now available on Disney+ Hotstar.
