Rashid Khan saved his best for the final match on Wednesday. Chasing 196 matches against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), most likely against the Gujarat Titans as they need 22 of the last six balls at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In the fold were Rahul Tewatia and Khan with Marco Jansen’s left foot doing bowling in the last match. However, the two of them were not intimidated as they reached the final ball target of the match to lead GT to win five wickets. With this win the GTs have consolidated their NO. 1 position in the points table with 14 points.
But before all that can happen, the GT lounge had a few nervous moments as Tewatia and Rashid Khan had a difficult task ahead of them. Tewatia hit Jansen for six over the center goal away from the first ball and then took one. With the main hitter from the strike, the GT camp became restless. But Khan hit six straight to the ground on the third ball but the fourth ball was the point.
With GT needing nine out of two balls, Khan first cut one for maximum and then from the last ball hit six more to bring his team the win.
“Feeling happy, to go out there and have that self -confidence and keep my form stronger and hit it, Happy to go against them (SRH), just try to play my game and have that confidence in my shot which I worked from. Two years last, “Khan said after the match.
“When that time was 22 years left. I just told Tewatia that we had given up 25 in the last game with one of our best bowlers and I told her that we had to have that trust and not panic, anything was possible. Just stay there , keep your form and hit hard and that’s the plan (with Tewatia). “
