After rocking one of the world’s most famous social media platforms and acquiring Twitter for $ 44 billion in a bizarre hostile takeover on Monday, Tesla’s billionaire founder Elon Musk has announced a new target: Coca-Cola.

In another eccentric tweet, new Twitter owner Musk today said that he plans to buy the next Coca-Cola “to re-introduce the cocaine”.

Shortly afterwards, Musk posted a screenshot of a previous tweet in which he said “Now I’m going to buy McDonald’s and fix all the ice cream machines,” and jokingly replied to himself with “Listen I can’t do miracles ok”.

Notorious for his bizarre remarks, Musk’s reputation on Twitter preceded him – long before he bought the company. Musk has, in the past, surveyed Twitter users, asking whether he should sell 10% of his Tesla shares to pay for unrealized capital gains, following which he actually sold nearly $ 7 billion of Tesla shares when over 57% surveyed. participants voted in favor of his proposal.

In the weeks before his Twitter acquisition, when Musk was just ready to join the board and nothing else, the Tesla founder tweeted a series of ideas he believed could improve the platform, with some looking serious – like the possibility of introducing an edit button – while others look very strange, like turning Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco into a homeless shelter.

His latest Coca-Cola tweet-perhaps in a joke though not fully visible, given his history of acting based on his bizarre social media statements-is a testament to the veteran beverage company’s colorful history with cocaine. The eponymous trademark soft drink Coca Cola is named for its two main ingredients: coca leaves and kola nuts. Although cola beans are a source of caffeine, coca leaves are the basis from which the psychoactive drug cocaine is extracted.

Coca-Cola at one time used coca leaves, with cocaine found in them, when the ingredient was still considered a medicine in the nineteenth century. However, when the drug became a stigma and Prohibition hit the U.S., cocaine was removed from their secret formula and instead replaced with decaffeinated coca leaves.
