Congress ‘Rebellion’ Meeting Day, Rahul Gandhi’s Reach-out

New Delhi:

Former Haryana Bhupinder Singh Hooda met with Rahul Gandhi today after attending a “G-23” or rebel group meeting in Congress and spending a day there. Mr Hooda is unhappy with the functioning of state President Selja Kumari Haryana, sources said.

A group of 18 congressional leaders, a mix of G-23 dissidents and some “newcomers”, came together last night and called for “collective and inclusive leadership.”

Bhupinder Singh Hooda, well known among the masses, was one of the newcomers to the meeting. 23 dissidents wrote to Sonia Gandhi two years ago calling for major changes in Congress, including a renewal of leadership.

Wednesday’s G-23 meeting was held by the Congressional Labor Committee after a post-mortem election. The results of five Assembly polls shocked Congress with a view to reviving the 2024 Lok Sabha vote forecast.

At the post-election Labor Committee meeting, there was talk of forming a new election preparation committee after the parliamentary session, but no compromise was made on the drastic changes.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi then called for the resignation of leaders of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur.
