Ahead of the Quad summit on Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi slammed the US Indo-Pacific strategy on Sunday, claiming that the group of four countries was formed in the form of freedom and openness but with the aim of curbing China.

He made this comment while speaking at a press conference after talks with Pakistani Foreign Minister visiting Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Guangzhou, Xinhua news agency reported.

When asked about the “Indo-Pacific Strategy”, Wang said: “The US Indo-Pacific Strategy is causing more vigilance and concern in the international community, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.”

This is because the strategy has relinquished its intention, not only to try to erase the “Asia-Pacific” name and the architecture of effective regional cooperation in the region but also to try to erase the achievements and momentum of peaceful development, Wang said.

Wang said that the people of Asia Pacific wanted national stability and a happy life, while countries in the region did not want to take sides and hoped the country could live together in harmony and pursue win-win cooperation.

Wang criticized the US for creating an “Indo-Pacific Strategy” to form small groups in the name of freedom and openness to contain China.

The Pakistani Foreign Minister began a two -day visit to China on Saturday. The visit was made amid the slow progress of the CPEC project and the deteriorating security situation in Pakistan which has caused a shift between the two countries.

The Pakistani Foreign Minister, who was also present at a press conference in Guangzhou, said the two leaders were involved in discussions related to economic, industrial, and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) coordination, which has faced obstacles due to Pakistan’s weaknesses. economy.

During the press conference, Bilawal stressed that China-Pakistan friendship is getting stronger and he was thankful for China’s support in every difficult time, Ary news reported.

The newly appointed foreign minister also condemned the recent terrorist attacks on Chinese nationals at Karachi University. He promised to bring the offenders to a responsible court and assure the safety of Chinese workers at the CPEC project.
