The Volkswagen Taigun compact SUV has been named the 2022 CNB Car of the Year
The Volkswagen Taigun compact SUV has received the coveted Car of the Year award at the 2022 carandbike awards. The compact SUV had to compete with some powerful competitors like the Mahindar XUV700, Citroen C5 Aircross and Tata Punch, among others, to win this award. In fact, he was the runner-up in the XUV700 category. Volkswagen Taigun impressed our jury with its built-in quality and handling skills, and above all, how mobile it is around the corners, which helped pack the compact SUV of the Year.
Volkswagen Taigun went on sale in India last September and entered the space of compact SUVs that are highly competitive in our market. It comes loaded well in the creature comfort department and in its exclusive comparison with Crete, which impressed us with its driving dynamics and performance. It goes against some strong Korean rivals like Hyundai Crete and Kia Seltos, and also competes with its sister brand car: the Skoda Kushaq.
The Volkswagen Taigun Indian petrol turbo engine comes with two options. First up is the tested 1.0-liter three-cylinder TSI petrol, which runs on a range of VW and Skoda cars. This engine has a six-speed manual transmission as standard, and a six-speed automatic torque converter is optional. Then comes the 1.5-liter, four-cylinder TSI petrol engine with a six-speed manual transmission and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
