Pop star Britney Spears said in an Instagram post Saturday that her sudden pregnancy, announced last month, had ended in miscarriage.
“With deep sadness, we had to announce that we had lost our magical baby early in the pregnancy,” the 40 -year -old singer wrote in a joint note with her partner Sam Asghari.
Spears had announced the pregnancy in an Instagram post on April 11, saying “So I got a pregnancy test and uhhhhh well I’m going to have a baby.”
The news comes five months after a Los Angeles judge dismissed a conservator who had long been overseen by Spears’ father – an arrangement the singer said had prevented her from removing a contraceptive IUD even though she wanted more children.
In their post on Saturday, Spears and Asghari added that they “will continue to strive to grow our beautiful family … We ask for privacy during these difficult moments.”
Spears had said in her post announcing her pregnancy that she would lie low during pregnancy to avoid paparazzi, and that she had previously suffered from peranakan depression, which she described as “very horrible.”
She is already the mother of two teenage sons, Sean and Jayden, with her ex -husband Kevin Federline.
Asghari and Spears met in 2016 when they starred in the music video for her single “Slumber Party.”
After announcing their engagement late last year, Spears began referring to her 28 -year -old partner as “her husband.”
When Spears announced she was pregnant, Asghari said in a separate Instagram post that “fatherhood is something I’ve always looked forward to and I don’t take it easy. It’s the most important job I’ve ever done.”
