Bhagwant Mann On 25,000 Jobs In Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday asked Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs to work honestly for the welfare of the people.

Mr Mann, who opened 25,000 jobs in various state government departments on Saturday in his first Cabinet meeting, asked his party lawmakers not to come up with any “sifarish” (recommendations) for the vacancy.

“Many will approach you for this job, but avoid making any suggestions. There is no place for corruption in the Aam Aadmi Party,” Mr Mann said.

Unemployment has been one of the major issues raised by the Aam Aadmi Party during the recently concluded DUN elections.

Speaking to the party’s MLA, AAP National Convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal praised the work of the new Punjab Chief Minister and said he had “dissected many things in just three days.”

“The government has started working in Punjab,” Mr Kejriwal said.

The AAP MLA meeting was held in Mohali and Mr Kejriwal joined it via video conference from Delhi.

Earlier, Mr Mann announced that his government would launch an anti -corruption helpline number on March 23 that would allow the public to upload videos of corrupt officials soliciting bribes or engaging in other irregularities.

Bhagwant Mann was sworn in as the state Chief Minister on March 16. On Saturday, ten AAP MLAs were appointed to his Cabinet.

The AAP recorded a landslide victory in the House elections by winning 92 seats in the House which has 117 members.
