Akane Yamaguchi of Japan on Sunday was crowned the 2022 All England women’s singles champion. The second seed clinched a 21-15, 21-15 victory over South Korean An Seyoung in 43 minutes. The two players, who have topped the category since Tokyo, met six times at the end of the 2021 business including at the World Championships and BWF World Tour Finals. They split the win evenly, three each, but there was no doubt the winner at Birmingham’s Utili Arena.

The Japanese brought an exceptional performance to the final, and won the first game 21-15 in 19 minutes – he had five game points but only needed one point.

The second match had its moments but Yamaguchi won without breaking a sweat against the Korean with the same goal.

It is the 2021 world champion’s 18th career title, ninth tour title and third Super 1000 title with many more to come.
