ABD, as it is known among cricketers, has forged close ties with former RCB captain Virat Kohli inside and out. pitch when they tried their best to win the IPL for the franchise, but it didn’t turn out to be.
Now, watching the action from the sidelines with his former South African team -mate Faf du Plessis taking over the captaincy role at RCB starting this season, de Villiers spoke about his expectations from Kohli this season.
“” Everyone knows about the coming Faf du Plessis as captain. I think the most gratifying thing for me was that Virat didn’t become captain and let go of a little bit of pressure, really went out there and let go. I was expecting a very big season from Virat. I think 600+ ran out of it this year, ”AB de Villiers said on the VUSport Streaming YouTube channel.
Kohli started the season with 41 of 29 unbeaten passes against the Punjab Kings as RCB recorded 205, but the bowler was unable to defend the total.
de Villiers praised du Plessis ’leadership skills and said that South Africa would be able to allow others to enjoy their game.
“He (Kohli) will be in Faf’s ear, but Faf is also very experienced. He has got good cricket training for him and he will allow Virat and some young players to go and get away, and just enjoy the IPL.
“I don’t know what to expect (from RCB) but I expect some individuals to really bounce back in this IPL from RCB’s preparations,” De Villiers added.
