6 Pakistani Soldiers Killed In Local Taliban Attack: Army

At least six Pakistani soldiers killed Wednesday in attack (Representative)

At least six Pakistani soldiers were killed Wednesday in an attack on their base in the northwest of the country claimed by the local version of the Taliban, the military said.

The attack in the town of Tank was claimed by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a separate movement that shares similar roots with militants who took power in Afghanistan last year.

“During the intense exchange of fire, six soldiers, after fighting valiantly, embraced the shahadah (martyrdom),” the Pakistani army said.

In a statement, the TTP claimed to have killed or injured more than 30 soldiers.

Militants often exaggerate their profits, while the military’s public relations department also downplays losses or delays in reporting them.
