45 Russian spies work in Poland under the protection of diplomatic activities, he said.

Poland’s intelligence counter service ABW has identified 45 Russian diplomats as suspected spies and urged the foreign ministry to expel them, a spokesman said on Wednesday.

“The internal security agency has compiled a list of 45 people working in Poland under the protection of diplomatic activities,” ABW spokesman Stanislaw Zaryn told reporters, accusing the suspects of targeting Poland.

He said the list of suspects had been transferred to the foreign ministry, with a tweet that “ABW asked for them to be expelled from Polish territory”.

ABW “has arrested a Polish national on suspicion of spying for the Russian secret service,” the spokesman added on Twitter.

“The detainee works in the archives of the Warsaw registry office,” he said.

“The activities of the suspects pose a threat to Poland’s internal and external security.”
